Care home staffing South East Wales

Care home staff for Cardiff, Newport and the Valleys

Care workers, senior carers and nurses for adult care homes from Bridgend to Monmouthshire, checked against the Welsh rules before they start.

Who we send

Care workers, senior care workers, nurses, and Welsh speakers where we have them.

How quickly

Same day for an urgent shift when someone suitable can reach the home. A week to set up a block booking.

How to book

Phone or use the form with the home, the shifts and the care needs.

Staff we place in South East Wales

Care workers

Residential and dementia care, days and nights, registered with Social Care Wales.

Senior care workers

To lead shifts and handle medication where your policy allows.

Registered nurses

For homes registered to provide nursing care.

Welsh speakers

Where we have them, for homes that offer care through the medium of Welsh.

Where we cover

Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, Newport and Monmouthshire, Bridgend, and the valley authorities of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.

The city has the larger homes. Up the valleys they are smaller with tighter teams, so one person off sick can leave a shift short, and that is often where our calls come from.

Transport here runs up and down the valleys rather than across them. Someone in Pontypridd can reach Merthyr or Cardiff easily, while getting to Ebbw Vale is another matter, so we match people to homes they can reach on time.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send us the shift

The home, the shift times, the care needs and whether the person needs to speak Welsh.

  2. 2

    We check for Wales

Social Care Wales registration, DBS and training are checked, and you get the file before the first shift.

  3. 3

    Familiar faces

For a run of shifts we keep the same people on your rota, which matters most in the smaller homes.

Urgent shifts
Same day, when a registered care worker is free and can reach the home in time.
Block bookings
One week to book, check and brief the people who will cover your rota.

Checked for Wales, not just for England

Care homes in Wales are inspected by Care Inspectorate Wales. The rules for care workers are different from England, and our checks follow them.

  • Social Care Wales registration status checked for care workers going into adult care homes. New workers have six months from starting to register, and we tell you where anyone is within that window.

  • Enhanced DBS with the adults' barred list check.

  • Right to work and references two references, one from the last care employer.

  • Training mandatory training certificates on file, with progress against the All Wales Induction Framework for newer workers.

  • Nurses live NMC registration checked before every placement.

Planning ahead in the smaller homes

If you run a small home in Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent or the top of the Rhondda, tell us when your gaps usually fall: school holidays, a run of nights, a long term sickness. We would rather plan the cover with you than react at seven in the morning.

Need care staff this week?

Tell us the home and the shifts. We will come back with who we can send.
