Where we cover

Lancashire county, with Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen. The Fylde coast from Fleetwood to Lytham St Annes is one of the busiest areas in the north west for older people's care. Inland it runs from Lancaster and Morecambe down through Preston and Chorley to Ormskirk, and east to Blackburn, Burnley and Pendle.

Dementia care is the core of the work, with nursing and mental health care alongside it.

Lancaster to Burnley is a long journey, so we offer shifts to people who live close to the home rather than whoever happens to be free.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us where and when

The home, the unit and the shifts, and anything the person needs to know about the residents.

  2. 2

    We book someone local

The shift goes to a checked carer or nurse who lives within easy reach, and you get their file first.

  3. 3

    The same people next time

The more notice you give, the more likely we can send someone who has worked with you before.

Urgent shifts
Same day, when we have someone suitable living near the home.
Planned cover
One week's notice for a block booking, so the same people cover the whole run.

Our checks

Care homes in England are inspected by the Care Quality Commission, and agency staff checks are part of that.

  • Enhanced DBS with the adults' barred list check, seen before anyone is booked.

  • Right to work checked against original documents or the Home Office online service.

  • References two, one from the most recent care employer.

  • Training moving and handling, safeguarding, infection prevention and basic life support, with certificates in the file you receive.

  • Nurses live NMC registration checked on the register before each placement.

East Lancashire

In Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and the Pennine towns, many care homes are smaller and family run, and agency use is occasional rather than constant. If that is you, you can start with a single shift when you need one.
