Care home staffing Essex

Care and support staff for Essex care homes

Carers, support workers and nurses for residential, learning disability and nursing homes, from Harlow and Chelmsford to Colchester, Southend and Thurrock.

Who we send

Care assistants, support workers for learning disability homes, senior carers and nurses.

How quickly

Same day for an urgent shift when someone suitable can reach the home. One week to set up regular people.

How to book

Call or use the form with the home, the shift and the people living there.

Staff we supply to Essex homes

Care assistants

For older people's residential homes, including dementia care.

Support workers

For learning disability homes, where knowing the person's routine matters as much as the task.

Senior carers

To lead shifts and cover your deputy on days off.

Registered nurses

For nursing homes, especially nights.

Where we cover

Essex county, Southend and Thurrock: Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon, Harlow, Brentwood and Braintree, out to Clacton and the coast.

Most homes here are residential rather than nursing, and many are small homes for adults with learning disabilities. Southend has a lot of homes for one borough, and weekends there are hard to fill when every home on the seafront is chasing the same carers.

Essex is a long county. Someone living in Harlow is not offered a night in Clacton. We match by journey time before anything else.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us about the home

The shift, the people living there, any support plans to read first and whether a driver is needed for outings.

  2. 2

    We send people who suit

Checked staff who can reach you and fit the home. We would rather send nobody than the wrong person.

  3. 3

    Two or three regulars

For learning disability homes we aim to give you a few regular people rather than a new face each time.

Urgent shifts
Same day, when someone suitable is free and within reach of the home.
Regular cover
One week to set up the same small group of people on your rota.

Checked before the first shift

Care homes in England are inspected by the Care Quality Commission. Each person's file comes to you before they start.

  • Enhanced DBS with the adults' barred list check, seen before anyone is booked.

  • Right to work checked against original documents or the Home Office online service.

  • References two, one from the most recent care employer.

  • Training moving and handling, safeguarding, infection prevention and basic life support, with certificates in the file you receive.

  • Nurses live NMC registration checked on the register before each placement.

Learning disability homes need a different approach

A home for four or five adults with learning disabilities runs on routine, and one unfamiliar agency worker can unsettle a whole evening. When you book, tell us about the people living there and anything the worker should read first. We will send someone who has done this kind of work before.

Short of staff this week?

Tell us the home, the shifts and who lives there. We will come back with names.
