Flamingo Workforce
A senior post for Doncaster based childcare staff
If you already have residential childcare behind you and live in or around Doncaster, this one is worth a look. A small children’s home in rural Lincolnshire near Gainsborough, a commutable drive from Doncaster, wants a Senior Support Worker on a permanent contract with the home itself. Flamingo Workforce is handling the hire.
The money
£16 an hour, plus £60 for each sleep in. The contract guarantees at least 37.5 hours a week and overtime is on offer. Over a full rota of blocks and sleep ins, earnings can comfortably pass £35,000 a year.
What you would actually be doing
Two young boys live at the home and a third is expected. You would give the same trauma informed care as the rest of the team, around routines, records and safeguarding, while also guiding less experienced staff through each shift. Care plans and documentation are yours to lead on, and when a situation escalates you are the one who keeps it calm. Expect the interview to test your residential childcare experience, because the home needs it at this level.
The shift pattern
Blocks run like this: 10am to 11pm then a sleep in, 7:30am to 11pm then a second sleep in, and a 10am finish on the third day. Then you have your days off.
Who should apply
You know safeguarding well and can talk confidently about attachment theory and trauma informed practice. Your notes are tidy and accurate. Evenings, weekends and sleep ins do not put you off. A full UK driving licence is strongly preferred since the home is out in the countryside. The role needs an enhanced DBS check, which the home will support, and you must already hold the right to work in the UK, as there is no visa sponsorship. Pension, parking on site, casual dress, a referral scheme and room to progress are part of the package. The home is an equal opportunities employer and uses safer recruitment.
