The coast has long drawn people to retire here, so a large share of local support work is with older people at home and in residential care, alongside supported living for younger adults with a learning disability, autism or mental health needs.
Hotels and restaurants along the seafront hire every summer, and some care staff go with them for the season. Providers feel it most from June to September.
People who know the work
We place support workers who have done the job before, from personal care and medication support to helping someone keep a tenancy going and writing up the notes afterwards. Each person has an enhanced DBS check, right to work evidence, two references and up to date mandatory training. If a service needs a driver for home care runs out towards Ferndown or Wimborne, say so and we will only put forward people with their own car and business insurance.
The compliance file comes to you before the first shift, so your manager knows who is coming and the CQC can see the same file when they inspect.
