Families are at the centre of a lot of the social work we recruit for in Sheffield. Sitting with parents and carers, understanding what is going on at home and agreeing what happens next is the core of the children and families posts, and families matter just as much in adult and mental health work.
Children and families, and the rest
Our locum and agency roles are with local authority and health and social care teams in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire. Alongside children and families, there are posts in adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. Child protection and court work are useful for the children’s roles; adult safeguarding, approved mental health work and discharge for the others. Senior practitioner and team manager posts come up regularly.
Your caseload
You will manage your own cases, assess and review, and produce plans and reports. Where a case needs it, you will attend meetings and hearings. Partner agencies are part of most cases, and your records must meet statutory and legal standards. On every placement you will have supervision and a team to support you.
Commuting in
We match bookings to your postcode and travel time. Candidates come from Chesterfield, Mansfield and Wakefield, and a few cross the Peak District from Stockport or Tameside. Contracts are anything from a few weeks to six months or more, full time or part time.
Before we can place you
You need a recognised social work qualification, current registration with Social Work England and at least two years of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory setting. We check your right to work in the UK and take two references from your recent jobs. An enhanced DBS on the update service is preferred, and we can arrange one otherwise. A driving licence and access to a car are needed for most community roles.
The hourly rate, and your call back
