Five service areas, one agency to deal with. Locum social workers we place in Belfast can find themselves in children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding or hospital discharge, and from one contract to the next you are free to stay put or try something different.
Moving between specialisms
Some social workers like to build depth in one area; others want breadth. Because our contracts run from a few weeks to six months or more, you can choose either. Tell us on the first call which teams you would like and which you would rather avoid, and we will work to that. Child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, approved mental health work and hospital discharge experience all help, and senior practitioner and team manager posts come in regularly.
The core of the job
Whatever the team, the shape is familiar. You carry a caseload, assess and review, write plans and reports, attend meetings and hearings as required, and work alongside families, carers and partner agencies. Records must meet statutory and legal standards. Supervision and team support are provided on every placement.
Belfast and beyond
Placements are with health and social care teams in the city and across Northern Ireland. We match on postcode and travel time, which matters if you live in Lisburn, Antrim, Craigavon, Ballymena or Newry and would rather not cross Belfast twice a day. Full time and part time contracts are both on offer.
What we check
A recognised social work qualification and current Northern Ireland Social Care Council registration, two years or more since qualifying in UK statutory work, the right to work in the UK, and two references covering recent employment. You also need an Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure; we can arrange that. For most community roles, bring a driving licence and a car.
