Flamingo Workforce

£13 to £18 an hour, paid every week, for support workers based in and around Birmingham. If you have complex care experience, or training in positive behaviour support, read on, because that background opens up a lot of the work we cover.

Complex care and behaviour support

Some of the people you could be supporting have complex needs, and some communicate distress through their behaviour. Workers who hold PBS, MAPA, PMVA or similar training, or who have spent time in learning disability, autism or mental health services, tend to settle into this kind of booking quickly. It is not the only option, though. We also cover supported living, community outreach, domiciliary support, young people’s services and waking nights.

A normal shift

Mostly it is about helping a person do as much for themselves as they can. Personal care, practical help, getting involved in daily life, steady support for their emotional wellbeing. You might give medication if you have been trained and the setting needs it. You keep records that are accurate, timely and confidential, and you safeguard the people around you throughout.

The paperwork side

To work with us you need relevant care experience and training, including the Care Certificate where it applies, and the right to work in the UK. We also ask for an enhanced DBS check (we can help you get one), mandatory training in date, for example safeguarding, moving and handling and medication administration where required, occupational health clearance for the setting and references from your recent employers. A Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care helps, as does a full UK driving licence for community and domiciliary jobs.

Across the West Midlands

Work is matched to your postcode and how long you are happy to travel, so someone in Wolverhampton, Dudley, West Bromwich, Walsall or Solihull gets offered shifts that make sense for them. Ad hoc, block booking and permanent are all on the table, sleep ins included. A consultant who knows the area handles your compliance, DBS and right to work so you can concentrate on the job.
