If your current rota decides your life for you, agency work turns that round. With Flamingo Workforce in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire, you choose your shifts from days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins, and you are paid weekly for whatever you work.
Residential care and beyond
Plenty of support workers know residential care well, and residential services are among the places we book into, alongside supported living, mental health services and community settings. Moving between them is a good way to widen your experience without changing employer each time. Experience with learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care is useful, and so is PBS, MAPA or PMVA training.
The care you give
The people you support should be able to live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice. Your part is personal care and practical help, encouraging them to join in everyday activities, supporting positive behaviour and their wellbeing, managing medication where you are trained, keeping records that others can rely on, and safeguarding.
Getting here
We match on postcode and travel time, so if you are coming in from Chesterfield, Mansfield or Wakefield we look at the trip before we book anything. Driving helps for community and domiciliary shifts, but a licence is not essential.
Before you are booked
You need six months or more of care experience in the UK and the Care Certificate where it applies, the right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check on the update service, which we can arrange for you, current mandatory training including safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where needed, and two references from recent employers.
Pay
Between £13 and £18 an hour, depending on the shift and the setting, paid weekly. Work comes as ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire.
