How soon could I start? Fair question, and it depends mostly on your paperwork. Send us your CV through the site and we call you within one working day. Once your compliance file is complete, you are free to take your first agency shift in Portsmouth or elsewhere along the South Coast.
From application to first shift
On that first call we talk about where you want to work, which shifts suit you and what checks you already have. If you hold an enhanced DBS check on the update service, that saves time. If you do not, we arrange it. We will also need your right to work, two references covering recent employment and proof that your mandatory training is in date, including safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where it applies.
Who we can place
You need six months or more of UK care experience, with the Care Certificate where applicable. Experience in learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care helps, and PBS, MAPA or PMVA training is worth having. A driving licence makes community and domiciliary work easier to reach but you can join without one.

The job and the pay
Support workers help people to lead lives that are as independent as possible, with their dignity respected and their choices heard. You would give personal care and practical help, encourage involvement in day to day activities, support positive behaviour and wellbeing, assist with medication where trained, keep tidy records and safeguard the people you work with. Choose days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins. You earn £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly, through ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements.
