Flamingo Workforce

Norfolk is a big county, and a support worker living in Great Yarmouth faces a very different drive from one in Thetford or King’s Lynn. That is why we match agency shifts by postcode and travel time, so the work we offer in Norwich and across Norfolk is close to where you actually are, and the same applies if you are over the border in Lowestoft or Bury St Edmunds.

Learning disability services

The work is in supported living, residential care, learning disability services and community settings. For learning disability work in particular, experience with autism or positive behaviour support goes a long way, and PBS, MAPA or PMVA training is worth mentioning. Mental health and complex care backgrounds are welcome too.

What you would be doing

You help people to live as independently as they can manage, with dignity and real choice. Expect personal care and practical help, encouraging people to get involved in everyday life, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, assisting with medication where you have been trained, keeping proper records and safeguarding the people in your care.

Shifts, pay and placements

You pick from days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins. The rate is £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and the setting, paid weekly for the hours you work. Ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer placements are all available across Norfolk, including Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn and Thetford. Outside the city, a driving licence makes community work easier to reach, though it is not a requirement.

Checks and experience

We need at least six months of care experience in the UK, with the Care Certificate where applicable, your right to work, an enhanced DBS on the update service or one we arrange for you, mandatory training in date for safeguarding, moving and handling and, where needed, medication, and two references from your recent employers.

Apply on our website with a CV. Someone will call within one working day to ask which parts of the county you would cover and to start your compliance file, and once that is finished you can book your first shift.
