Flamingo Workforce

£13 to £18 an hour, paid every week, for support work in Manchester and the boroughs around it. Where you sit in that range comes down to the shift you choose and the kind of service it is in.

Why some people book in blocks

Ad hoc shifts are there if you want to pick and choose from one week to the next. Some support workers would rather have a block booking, a run of shifts with the same service, so they get to know the people they support and the way the place runs. Longer placements take that further again. We offer all three across Greater Manchester, and the same goes whether you are coming in from Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside or Oldham. Every match is made on postcode and travel time, so the commute is part of the conversation from the start.

Settings and hours

The bookings are in supported living, residential care, mental health services and community settings. Days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins are all available, and which ones you work is your decision, not ours.

On a typical shift

Your job is to help people get on with their lives as independently as they are able, keeping their dignity and their say in things. That might be personal care, a hand with cooking or the shopping, nudging someone to join in with daily activities, supporting positive behaviour and how they are feeling, giving medication where you hold the training, writing up clear records and acting on any safeguarding concern.

Getting cleared to work

Before we book you, we need six months or more of UK care experience and the Care Certificate where relevant, proof of your right to work, an enhanced DBS on the update service, which we can arrange if you do not have one, in date mandatory training in safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where it applies, plus two references covering recent jobs. Background in learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care is useful, as is PBS, MAPA or PMVA. You do not need to drive, although a licence helps with community and domiciliary work.

Apply through the site and attach your CV. Expect a call within one working day to talk about where you want to work, and we will get your compliance file moving so your first shift can follow once it is done.
