Nights, sleep ins and everything between
You decide which shifts you take. Days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins are all on the table, and you can stick to one pattern or move between them. On a waking night you are up and working through until morning; on a sleep in you stay over at the service and are there if someone needs you. Tell us at the start which suits you and we book around it.
What the shift involves
Whatever the hours, the point is the same: helping people live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice over their own lives. You will give personal care and practical support, encourage people into ordinary daily activities, back up positive behaviour and wellbeing, help with medication if you are trained for it, keep clear notes and look out for anyone at risk.
The checks
We ask for at least six months of care experience in the UK, the Care Certificate where it applies, the right to work here, an enhanced DBS check on the update service (or we will arrange one), current mandatory training covering safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where needed, and two references from recent employers. Learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care experience helps, and so does PBS, MAPA or PMVA training. A driving licence is handy for community work, though you can manage without.
Rates across the county
You earn £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and the setting, and you are paid every week. There are ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer placements across Kent, including Canterbury, Ashford, Tonbridge and Medway.
