Where that training gets used
Our support workers go into supported living, residential care, mental health services and community settings. Positive behaviour support training is especially relevant if you lean towards the mental health side. The core of the job does not change between settings: you help people live as independently as possible, keep their dignity and make their own choices.
Typical tasks
Personal care and practical help. Encouraging people to get involved in everyday activities. Supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing. Giving medication if you are trained to. Keeping clear records. Safeguarding everyone in your care.
Essentials
Beyond the specialist training, which is a bonus rather than a must, you need six months or more of UK care experience and the Care Certificate where applicable. You must have the right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS on the update service, and if yours is not, we can arrange one. Mandatory training such as safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where needed must be in date, and we take two references covering your recent jobs. A driving licence is useful for community and domiciliary shifts, but not essential.
Shifts, pay and travel
Days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins are all available, as ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements. Pay is £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly. Whether you are in Leicester or travelling from Loughborough, Nuneaton, Rugby, Corby or Nottingham, we match work to your postcode and travel time.
