Some support workers want a different service each week and never get bored. Others want the same house, the same faces and the same routine for months on end. In Leeds and across West Yorkshire we book both kinds of people, through ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer placements.
Picking your pattern
You choose when you work: days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins. You choose how much, too. Pay is £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting, and it comes through weekly for the hours you have done. Shifts are in Leeds and around the county, including Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield, and we match by postcode and travel time, so people coming from York or Sheffield are offered work that makes sense for their commute.
Where the work is
Supported living, residential care, mental health services and community settings. In each one you are helping people live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice. Personal care, practical help, encouragement to take part in everyday life, support with behaviour and wellbeing, medication where you are trained, good records and safeguarding are all part of it.
What gets you booked
At least six months of care experience in the UK, with the Care Certificate where applicable, and the right to work in the UK. An enhanced DBS on the update service, or we will arrange a check for you. Mandatory training in date, covering safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where needed, and two references for your most recent work. It helps to have experience with learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care, or PBS, MAPA or PMVA training. A driving licence is handy for community and domiciliary bookings, but not essential.
After you apply
Apply through the site with your CV. A consultant calls you within one working day, talks through where you want to work and starts your compliance file. As soon as that file is complete, you can pick up your first shift.
