Flamingo Workforce
Six months of care experience in the UK is where we start. If you have that, and the Care Certificate where it applies, Flamingo Workforce can put you forward for agency support work in Glasgow and across Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire, in supported living, residential care, mental health services and community settings.
Medication and record keeping
Two parts of the job deserve a mention because they are easy to underestimate. Where you are trained to, you will assist people with their medication, which is why we ask that your medication training, along with safeguarding and moving and handling, is in date. And you will keep records: clear, accurate notes that the next person on shift can rely on. Get those right and the rest of the work flows more easily.
The rest of the role
Everything you do is aimed at helping people live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice. That means personal care, practical support, encouraging people to join in with daily activities, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, and safeguarding the people you look after.
PVG and the other checks
Working in Scotland requires PVG scheme membership. If you do not have it, we can arrange it. We also check your right to work in the UK and take two references from recent employment. If you hold SSSC registration, let us know. Learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care experience is useful, as is PBS, MAPA or PMVA training. You do not need a driving licence, though it helps with community and domiciliary work.
Shifts and rates
You decide between days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins. Rates run from £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly. Ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer placements are available across the area, matched to your postcode and travel time, and if you are open to work as far as Edinburgh or Dundee, we can talk about that too.
