A sleep in on a Tuesday, a couple of day shifts at the weekend, nothing at all the week after. Agency support work in Edinburgh and across the Lothians can be as regular or as occasional as you want it to be, and whatever you do work is paid weekly.
Choosing your pattern
Days, nights, waking nights and sleep ins are all available, and the mix is up to you. Some weeks you might want ad hoc shifts only; at other times a block booking or a longer placement in one service could suit you better. Flamingo Workforce offers all of these, and we match them to your postcode and travel time so the journey stays sensible, whether you live in the city or further out across the Lothians. If you are willing to travel as far as Glasgow or Dundee, tell us.
The services
Bookings are in supported living, residential care, mental health services and community settings. Wherever you are placed, the job is to help people live as independently as they can, with dignity and with choice. That includes personal care and practical tasks, encouraging people to take part in their own day, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, helping with medication where you hold the training, keeping good records and safeguarding.
Scottish checks
In Scotland you will need PVG scheme membership, and if you are not a member yet, we can arrange it. If you are registered with the SSSC, bring that up when we speak. We also need six months or more of UK care experience, the Care Certificate where applicable, the right to work in the UK, current mandatory training including safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where required, and two references covering recent employment. Learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care experience is valued, and so is PBS, MAPA or PMVA training. A driving licence helps with community work but is not essential.
Pay and applying
Pay is £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting. Apply on the site with your CV. We will call within one working day, talk through where you would like to work and start your compliance file, and you can take your first shift once it is complete.
