Six months. That is the minimum amount of UK care experience we look for before booking support workers into agency shifts in Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands. If you have it, the rest of the process is fairly straightforward.
Residential care and more
Our Coventry shifts cover residential care, supported living, mental health services and community settings. Residential work can suit people who like the rhythm of one home and its routines, while community and supported living roles give you more variety. Either way, you are there to help people keep as much independence as they can, and to treat them with dignity and respect their choices.
On shift
That looks like personal care and practical help, getting people involved in everyday activities, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, assisting with medication where you have been trained, writing clear records and safeguarding the people in your care.
The rest of the checklist
Along with that experience, you will need the Care Certificate where applicable and the right to work in the UK. An enhanced DBS on the update service is required, and if you are not on it, we can arrange a DBS for you. We need your mandatory training up to date, safeguarding and moving and handling included, plus medication training where required, and two references from your recent employment. Learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care experience is useful, and so is PBS, MAPA or PMVA training. You do not need a driving licence, though it helps with community and domiciliary work.
Hours and pay
Choose days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins. Work ad hoc, take a block booking or go for a longer placement anywhere from Coventry out to Rugby, Nuneaton, Warwick, Leamington Spa or Solihull. Pay is £13 to £18 an hour depending on shift and setting, and it is paid weekly for the hours you work.
