Flamingo Workforce

Some of the support work around Cardiff takes place in people’s own homes and out in the community, which is where a driving licence earns its keep. You can still work with Flamingo Workforce without one, but if you drive, say so, because it widens what we can offer you across South Wales.

Community and home based work

Alongside community settings and domiciliary bookings, we place agency support workers in supported living, residential care and mental health services. Whichever setting you are in, the work centres on helping people live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice. You might be giving personal care, helping with practical jobs, encouraging someone to get out and take part in everyday activities, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, assisting with medication where trained, recording what happened accurately and safeguarding the people you support.

From the valleys and the coast

We match work to your postcode and travel time. Whether you live in Cardiff or come in from Barry, Newport, Pontypridd, Cwmbran or Bridgend, the shifts we put to you should suit the journey.

What we ask for

Half a year or longer in a UK care job is the minimum, together with the Care Certificate if it applies to you and your right to work here. For the background check we use an enhanced DBS on the update service; no DBS yet is fine, as we arrange that. Your safeguarding, moving and handling and, where relevant, medication training should be current, and two people you have recently worked for should be willing to give a reference. If you are registered with Social Care Wales, mention it when we speak. Learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care experience is useful, and so is PBS, MAPA or PMVA training.

Shifts and weekly pay

Choose days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins, as ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements in Cardiff and across South Wales. Pay is £13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly.

Upload your CV through the site to apply. Within one working day we phone to hear which parts of South Wales you want, open a compliance file in your name, and once every check on it is done you are free to book that first shift.
