Flamingo Workforce

Send us your CV through the site and someone from Flamingo will ring you within one working day. On that call we ask where in Cambridgeshire you want to work, which shifts you are after and what experience you have, and then we open your compliance file. When the file is complete, you can take your first shift.

Across the county

The agency shifts are in Cambridge and out across Cambridgeshire, including Ely, Huntingdon, Peterborough and Wisbech. If you live nearer Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds or Stevenage, it is still worth applying, because we match people to work by postcode and travel time rather than sending everyone into the city.

What the settings look like

You could be in supported living, residential care, mental health services or community settings. The job is helping people live as independently as they can, with dignity and choice. Expect personal care and practical help, encouraging people to join in with everyday activities, supporting positive behaviour and wellbeing, giving medication where you are trained, keeping clear records and keeping people safe.

The bar for joining

We ask for at least six months of care experience in the UK, plus the Care Certificate where it applies, and the right to work here. You need an enhanced DBS on the update service; if you do not have one, we can arrange it. Your mandatory training, including safeguarding, moving and handling and medication where required, should be in date, and we need two references covering your recent employment. PBS, MAPA or PMVA training and a background in learning disability, autism, mental health or complex care are useful. A driving licence helps for community and domiciliary work, but you can do without one.

Pay and patterns

£13 to £18 an hour depending on the shift and the setting, paid weekly. You pick days, nights, waking nights or sleep ins, and you can go for ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements.
