Working across agencies
Our placements are with local authority and health and social care teams, which means the conversations often cross service boundaries. Hospital discharge is the obvious example, and mental health and safeguarding work rely on the same habits. You will hold a caseload, assess and review, write plans and reports that other professionals can act on, attend meetings and hearings where needed, and keep records that meet statutory and legal standards. Supervision and team support are provided on every placement.
Teams and travel
Posts cover children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. We match by postcode and travel time, so a candidate in Neath or Llanelli might be offered something close to home, while Bridgend, Carmarthen and Merthyr Tydfil are in range for those who drive further. Most community roles need a licence and a car. Contracts run from a few weeks to six months or more, and you can work full time or part time.
Registration and checks
You need a recognised qualification in social work, current Social Care Wales registration, and two years or more of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory setting. We confirm your right to work in the UK, take up two references from recent employment, and need an enhanced DBS check on the update service, which we can arrange if you are without one. Experience of child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, approved mental health work or hospital discharge is valued, and senior practitioners and team managers are regularly sought.
Pay
£25 to £40 an hour depending on the team and level of the post, paid weekly.
