Which team would I be in? For social workers in Reading the answer depends on what you have done before. Matching your background
A practitioner with child protection and court experience is a natural fit for children and families. Adult safeguarding sits well in adults or safeguarding teams, approved mental health work in mental health, and discharge experience in hospital discharge. What stays the same in every team
You will hold cases, assess and review, write plans and reports and go to meetings and hearings as needed. You will work with families, carers and partner agencies, and keep records that meet statutory and legal standards. Supervision and team support come with every placement, whichever service it is in.
Location and contract
We place people by postcode and travel time, and candidates for Reading often live in Wokingham, Bracknell or Maidenhead, or a little further out in Camberley or Basingstoke. Contracts are locum and agency, from a few weeks to more than six months, and can be full time or part time.
The essentials
Qualified social workers registered with Social Work England, with at least two years in UK statutory practice since qualifying and the right to work in the UK. We take two references about your recent employment and look for an enhanced DBS on the update service, arranging one if you need it. A driving licence and car are needed for most community roles.
Earnings and the first call
