Much of good social work happens in the space between agencies: the phone call to another professional, the joint visit, the meeting where everyone round the table finally agrees a plan. Locum social workers we place in Oxford spend a lot of their time in exactly that space, working alongside partner agencies as well as with families and carers.
Working across agencies
Whichever team you are with, you will hold a caseload, assess and review, and turn what you find into plans and reports that others can act on. Meetings and hearings come up as cases require. Your records need to meet statutory and legal standards, and you will have supervision and team support on every placement. The posts are locum and agency roles with local authority and health and social care teams in Oxford and around Oxfordshire.
Which service
Children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding or hospital discharge. Child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, approved mental health work and discharge are useful backgrounds, and there is regular demand for senior practitioners and team managers.
Getting there
Many of our Oxfordshire candidates are based in Didcot, Witney, Bicester or Banbury, and some come across from Aylesbury. We place by postcode and travel time. Contracts run for a few weeks or for six months and longer, and can be full time or part time.
Checks and qualifications
You will need a recognised qualification in social work, current Social Work England registration and two or more years of statutory experience in the UK after qualifying. Proof of your right to work in the UK and two references on recent jobs are required. If your enhanced DBS is on the update service, great; if not, we organise one for you. Most community roles need a car and a licence.
Weekly pay and how to start
