Writing that holds up
Plans and reports you write here may be read by the family, by carers, by colleagues in other agencies and, if a case reaches a hearing, by the people deciding it. Accurate, prompt notes protect the people you work with and they protect you. Anyone who has prepared evidence for court or for child protection conferences will find that background welcomed.
Beyond the paperwork
The writing comes out of the casework, of course. You will be out seeing families and carers, joining meetings, going to hearings when needed and working jointly with partner organisations. Our placements sit with health and social care teams, and the spread runs from children’s services to adult work, mental health, safeguarding and the hospital discharge side. Each one comes with supervision and colleagues to lean on.
Getting to work
We pair people with posts according to postcode and how long the commute would be. Enniskillen, Dungannon and Derry are the nearest larger towns to Omagh, with Armagh and Craigavon further off. Most community work here means driving, so a licence and a car are expected for it. Contracts can be measured in weeks or run for six months plus, on full or part time hours.
Registration, references, disclosure
Hold a recognised qualification in social work and keep your NISCC registration live. We look for two years minimum of post qualifying practice within a UK statutory service. Bring evidence of the right to work in the UK and two referees from your latest jobs. An Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure is part of the file; we can apply for it on your behalf. Safeguarding adults, approved mental health practice or discharge planning are all useful extras, and teams keep asking us for senior practitioners and for team managers.
Pay
Hourly rates of £25 to £40, decided by the team and the seniority of the post, with weekly pay.
