Where safeguarding comes in
Safeguarding is one of the service areas here, whether the person at risk is a child or an adult, and experience in child protection or adult safeguarding is one of the most useful things you can bring. Court work, approved mental health work and hospital discharge experience are valued too. The posts themselves are locum and agency roles with local authority and health and social care teams across Norfolk, covering children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and discharge.
The responsibilities
Holding a caseload of your own, you will assess, review, draw up plans and write reports, and you may attend meetings and hearings. You will work with families and carers and the other agencies involved, and keep records that satisfy statutory and legal requirements. On every placement you have supervision and a team to work with.
Practical points
A driving licence and a car are needed for most community roles, and in a county this size that is hard to avoid. Contracts last from a few weeks to six months or longer, with full time and part time options. Pay is between £25 and £40 per hour by team and post level, and it is paid weekly.
Registration and vetting
A recognised social work qualification, registration with Social Work England and a minimum of two years since qualifying in UK statutory work. You also need the right to work in the UK and two references on your recent roles. We look for an enhanced DBS on the update service and can arrange a check if you need one. Senior practitioners and team managers are in regular demand.
