Support on placement
That matters when the work is heavy. You will hold your own caseload, carry out assessments and reviews, and write plans and reports. Some cases mean meetings or a hearing. Families, carers and partner agencies will be part of your week, and your recording must meet statutory and legal standards. Having a supervisor and colleagues to talk things through with is part of how that work gets done well.
Tyneside, Wearside and Northumberland
Our contracts are with local authority teams and health and social care services in Newcastle, across Tyne and Wear and up into Northumberland. Candidates live in Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Shields and Sunderland, among other places. We match by postcode and the travel you are happy with. The service areas are children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge.
Booking lengths and hours
Some contracts are a few weeks of cover. Others run six months or more. Full time and part time both come up.
Who qualifies
Social workers with a recognised qualification and current Social Work England registration who have spent at least two years in UK statutory practice since qualifying. We will check your right to work in the UK, take two references from recent employers and ask for an enhanced DBS on the update service, or arrange one if yours is not. A licence and access to a car are needed for most community roles. Child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, AMHP work and discharge are all useful experience, and we have steady demand for senior practitioners and team managers.
Pay and how to apply
