Adult services is one of the areas we fill locum social work contracts for in Manchester: assessing what an adult needs, reviewing support that is already in place, and stepping in when there is a safeguarding concern. If that is where your experience lies, this listing is written with you in mind.
Adults first, though not only adults
We recruit for local authority and health and social care teams across Greater Manchester, in adult services, safeguarding, mental health and hospital discharge, and in children and families as well. Adult safeguarding and approved mental health work are particularly useful backgrounds, as are child protection and court experience for the children’s posts. There is regular call for senior practitioners and team managers too.
How a placement runs
You take responsibility for your own cases. That covers assessments and reviews, the plans and reports that follow, and meetings or hearings where a situation calls for one. You will spend a lot of time with the people you support, their families and carers, and the agencies involved, and you will keep records that hold up to statutory and legal standards. Supervision and a team to work with are provided on every placement.
Close to home
Commuters come to us from Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Tameside and Oldham. We base placements on your postcode and acceptable travel time, and contracts last anywhere from a few weeks to beyond six months, full time or part time.
Requirements in brief
A recognised social work qualification with live Social Work England registration, and two years or more of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory service. Right to work in the UK, two references from recent employment and an enhanced DBS on the update service, which we can arrange if needed. Most community jobs mean driving, so a licence and car are expected.
Rates and a quick call
