Flamingo Workforce
Paid every week, not every month. Social workers on our Maidstone contracts are paid weekly for the hours they actually work, at between £25 and £40 an hour depending on the team and how senior the post is.
Why weekly pay suits locum work
Locum bookings start and stop, and a monthly pay cycle can leave a long wait between finishing one contract and seeing the money. Weekly pay keeps that gap short. It also makes it easier to see exactly what each week has earned you.
Teams in mid Kent and the Medway towns
We recruit for local authority teams and health and social care services in Maidstone and across Kent. Many of our candidates live in Chatham, Rochester or Gillingham, or in Sittingbourne and Tonbridge, and we try to keep the drive reasonable by matching on postcode and travel time. Service areas include children and families, adults, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. A booking could be a few weeks or more than six months, and you can choose full time or part time hours.
What you will be trusted with
A caseload, with the assessments, reviews, plans and reports that come with it, and attendance at meetings or hearings when they are called. You will work alongside families, carers and other agencies, and the records you write need to meet statutory and legal standards. Every placement provides supervision and a team for support.
Eligibility
Hold a recognised social work qualification and current Social Work England registration, and bring at least two years of post qualifying practice from a UK statutory setting. You need the right to work in the UK, two references that cover your recent work, and an enhanced DBS on the update service. If you do not have that DBS, we will arrange it. For most community roles, a driving licence and car are essential. Child protection, court, adult safeguarding, AMHP or discharge experience all count in your favour.
