Two years. That is the minimum post qualifying experience in a UK statutory setting we need before we can put you forward for locum social work in Hull, and it is there for a reason: you will be holding your own cases from the first week, and the teams expect someone who already knows how statutory work runs.
What that experience gets used for
On placement you will take on a caseload, complete assessments and reviews, and produce plans and reports that other professionals will rely on. Some cases will bring you into meetings and hearings. Your records need to meet statutory and legal standards, because they may be read closely later. You will be working with families, carers and partner agencies, and supervision and a team around you are part of every booking.
Where in East Yorkshire
We recruit for local authority and health and social care teams in Hull and across East Yorkshire, in children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. Candidates travel in from York, Leeds and Wakefield, and from across the Humber towards Lincoln and Newark. We match bookings to your postcode and the journey you are prepared to make.
The rest of the checklist
Besides the experience, you need a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. We will confirm your right to work in the UK and take up two references about your recent roles. An enhanced DBS on the update service is preferred, and if yours is not, we can sort a new check. A licence and car are needed for most community roles. Experience in child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, approved mental health work or discharge is helpful.
Terms
Locum and agency contracts, from a few weeks to more than six months, full time or part time. Pay is £25 to £40 per hour by team and level, and you are paid weekly.
