Choosing your hours
Some people want five days a week for half a year; others want something shorter and lighter around family or study. Both patterns exist in the contracts we fill, and pay is weekly for the hours you put in, at £25 to £40 an hour depending on the team and the level of the post.
Teams across the city region
Our placements are with local authority and health and social care teams covering children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. We match by postcode and travel time, so a candidate on one side of the city is not sent to the other without being asked. Some people commute from further afield, Edinburgh or Dundee for instance, and we will take that into account.
How the casework runs
You carry your own caseload, assess and review, put plans and reports together, go to meetings and hearings when required, and work with families, carers and partner agencies throughout. Statutory and legal standards apply to everything you record. Supervision and team support are there on every placement, however many hours you work.
Before your first shift
We ask for a recognised social work qualification, registration with the Scottish Social Services Council and two years or more of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory service. PVG scheme membership is required, and we can arrange it. You will need the right to work in the UK, two references that cover your recent employment, and usually a driving licence and car for community roles. Child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, mental health or hospital discharge experience is helpful, and we have regular demand for team managers and senior practitioners.
