Enniskillen sits in the middle of Fermanagh, with Omagh up the road and Dungannon, Armagh and Derry further out, so community social work around here usually means time behind the wheel. Most of the community posts we fill in this part of the west ask for a full licence and a car you can use for work.
Covering Fermanagh and the west
We recruit locum social workers for health and social care teams in Enniskillen, across the county and through the Western Trust area. Before anything else we ask where you live and how many miles you are happy to cover in a day, and we only put forward posts that fit that answer. Some contracts are short, a matter of weeks; some last half a year or longer. You can take them on a full or part time basis.
Teams and tasks
Teams range across safeguarding, mental health, hospital discharge, adults, and children with their families. Whichever you join, you will be managing your own cases: visiting, assessing, reviewing progress, drafting plans, writing reports, sitting in meetings and going to hearings if a case gets that far. You will spend real time with families and carers and with the other agencies involved, and your recording must stand up legally and meet statutory requirements. A supervisor and a team are there behind you each time.
What we need from you
We need proof that you are qualified in social work, are on the register held by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council and have spent at least two years since qualifying in a statutory post somewhere in the UK. Show us you have the right to work here and give us two referees who know your recent work. If you lack an Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, we will sort that out. Background in court work, child protection, discharge, safeguarding adults or approved mental health practice is a bonus. Experienced team managers and senior practitioners are asked for regularly.
Rates
Hourly pay is £25 to £40, depending on which team you go to and how senior the post is. It lands in your account every week.
