Mental health casework
Social work in a mental health setting has the same backbone as elsewhere. You manage a caseload, carry out assessments and reviews, set out plans and write reports, take part in meetings and hearings when a case needs it, and stay in close contact with the person, their family or carers and the other services involved. Your records must meet statutory and legal standards. On every placement there is supervision and a team you can call on, which counts for a lot in this field.
From the Tay to Fife
We work with local authority and health and social care teams across Dundee, Tayside and Fife. Matching is done by postcode and travel time. Some candidates will want to stay close to the city; those prepared to travel can look south towards Edinburgh or north to Aberdeen, and Glasgow is within range for a few. Contracts last from a few weeks to six months or longer, and both full time and part time work is available.
What you will need to show us
Hold a recognised social work qualification and be on the register of the Scottish Social Services Council, with two years or more of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory service. PVG scheme membership is needed, and we can arrange it if you are not a member yet. We check the right to work in the UK and ask for two references from your recent employers. A driving licence and a car are necessary for most community posts. Experience of child protection, court work or adult safeguarding helps as well, and senior practitioners and team managers are in regular demand.
Rate
Between £25 and £40 an hour depending on the team and seniority, with pay going out every week.
