Do I need a car for this? For most of the community roles we fill around Derby, yes. Visits to families, carers and other agencies across Derbyshire are hard to fit into a week without one, so a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are part of what we ask.
Getting around Derbyshire
Our candidates come from all directions: Burton Upon Trent to the south west, Chesterfield and Mansfield to the north, Nottingham and Loughborough to the east. We place you by postcode and travel time, so the booking should make sense against where you live rather than leaving you on the A38 twice a day for no reason.
The contracts
These are locum and agency roles with local authority teams and health and social care services in Derby and the county. The service areas are children and families, adult services, mental health, safeguarding and hospital discharge. Bookings last anything from a few weeks to six months or longer, either full time or part time.
What practice looks like
You hold a caseload and carry out assessments and reviews, write plans and reports, and attend meetings and hearings where they are needed. You will build working relationships with families, carers and partner agencies and keep records that meet statutory and legal standards. Supervision and team support are in place throughout.
Qualifications and background
You need a recognised social work qualification, current Social Work England registration and two years or more of post qualifying work in a UK statutory setting, along with the right to work in the UK and two referees from recent employment. We look for an enhanced DBS on the update service and can arrange one if you do not have it. Backgrounds in child protection, court work, adult safeguarding, AMHP work or discharge are useful, and we are often asked for senior practitioners and team managers.
Pay and next steps
