Flamingo Workforce
Tell us your postcode first. Before we discuss any locum social work contract in Cardiff, we want to know where you live and how far you are prepared to travel, because that decides which posts across South Wales are worth your time.
Commuting into the capital
Plenty of people live outside the city itself. If you are in Barry, Newport, Pontypridd, Cwmbran or Bridgend, we will look at Cardiff posts alongside ones nearer home and help you weigh up the drive. For most community roles you will need a driving licence and a car.
The work
Our contracts are with local authority teams and with health and social care teams, across children’s services, adults, mental health, safeguarding and discharge from hospital. Whichever team takes you on, the job is your own cases: visits and assessments, reviews, plans and reports that need to read well, meetings, the occasional hearing, and a great deal of contact with families, carers and partner organisations. What you record has to be legally sound and meet statutory requirements. You get supervision, and the team is there to back you up.
Registration in Wales
Bring a recognised qualification in social work and live registration with Social Care Wales, plus at least two years in UK statutory practice since you qualified. We will confirm you have the right to work in the UK and approach two referees from your latest jobs. An enhanced DBS on the update service is part of the file, and if you have not got one we will organise it. Court work, child protection, safeguarding adults, approved mental health practice and discharge planning all count in your favour, and teams ask us often for senior practitioners and managers.
Contracts and pay
A contract might be a few weeks or might carry on past six months, on full or part time hours. Hourly pay sits between £25 and £40, set by the team and the grade of the post, and it reaches you weekly.
Apply through the site with your CV. We will call you within one working day, go over the areas you can reach, and get your compliance file started so your first shift can follow once it is complete.
