More than discharge
We place qualified social workers on locum and agency contracts with local authority and health and social care teams across Brighton and Sussex. Discharge is one strand. Others are children and families, adult services, mental health and safeguarding. Whichever team you join, you carry a caseload, assess and review, draft plans and reports, attend meetings and hearings when needed and work closely with carers and partner agencies. Recording has to meet statutory and legal standards, and supervision plus a supportive team come with every booking.
Commuting along the coast
Some of our candidates are in the city; others are in Worthing or Eastbourne, or further inland in Horsham, Haywards Heath or Crawley. We match bookings to where you live and how long you are happy to spend getting there. You will usually need a car and a driving licence for community roles.
Who can apply
You should be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with no less than two years of post qualifying experience in a UK statutory setting. We also check your right to work, take up two references about your recent employment and look for an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. We can arrange a DBS if yours is not. Hospital discharge, adult safeguarding, child protection, court work and approved mental health work are all useful backgrounds.
Contracts and pay
Bookings range from a few weeks to six months or more, in full time or part time patterns, and pay is £25 to £40 an hour depending on the team and level, settled weekly.
