Flamingo Workforce
Learning disability nurses, this listing is as much for you as for adult nurses. Our Wolverhampton bookings lean towards the RGN register, but requests for learning disability and mental health nurses come in regularly across the Black Country, and we would like to hear from you.
Settings you can choose from
Hospital wards, care and nursing homes, mental health units and community services. You decide which of these you work in, and which shifts. If you have a strong preference for learning disability work, say so and we will keep that in mind when we contact you.
What the shift asks of you
Whatever the setting, you take responsibility for each person’s care from start to finish: assessing, planning, delivering, evaluating. You give medication according to NMC standards, watch observations and respond when something changes, keep careful records, and fit in with the wider clinical team.
Black Country travel
Postcode and travel time decide what we offer you. Living in Dudley, Walsall or West Bromwich, or further afield in Birmingham or Telford, is no problem as long as the shift is a sensible distance away.
Pay, bookings and checks
Expect £25 to £40 an hour depending on shift and setting, paid weekly, with ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer placements available. To start, you will need an active NMC PIN with revalidation in date, six months or more of recent UK nursing, the right to work in the UK, and an enhanced DBS on the update service or one we arrange for you. We also check that your mandatory training is in date (moving and handling, safeguarding, life support, infection prevention), that you have occupational health clearance and the right immunisations, and that two referees can vouch for your recent employment.
How to apply
Send us your CV through the site. Flamingo Workforce will ring you within one working day, talk about where you would like to work and get your compliance file going. Your first shift can be booked once it is complete.
