Not every nurse wants a ward. Some of the work we place in Manchester is in GP practices, with district nursing teams and in community services, and if clinics and home visits suit you better than a hospital bay, that is a perfectly good reason to get in touch.
Practice and community nursing
Practice nursing and community or district nursing are both part of what we cover across Greater Manchester, along with care and nursing homes. Skills like venepuncture and IV therapy count for a lot in those roles, and so does any experience with electronic patient records. They are desirable rather than essential. If you do still want acute work, hospital wards, theatres and scrub, ICU or ITU, emergency departments and mental health units are all on our books too.
Around the city
Salford and Trafford sit just west of the centre, Stockport to the south, Tameside and Oldham to the east. Wherever you are, we use postcode and travel time to keep the offers within a commute you are happy with.
Rates and flexibility
£25 to £40 an hour, paid weekly. Take ad hoc shifts, regular block bookings, or a permanent post if you find somewhere you want to stay. The shifts, settings and locations are your call.
What we ask of you
Valid NMC registration with an active PIN and revalidation in date, plus the right to work in the UK. You need an enhanced DBS check, and we can help you obtain one. Your mandatory training should be current and appropriate to the role: basic or immediate life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and control, safeguarding of adults and children. We will also need occupational health clearance, the immunisations the setting requires and contactable references for your recent employment.
In practice
You assess and plan care for each person, deliver it and evaluate it. You give medication safely, record observations and act on them, keep timely and confidential notes, work with the wider clinical team and safeguard everyone in your care.
