Flamingo Workforce

Day one, you send us your CV through the site. Within one working day, someone from Flamingo Workforce phones you. On that call we talk about where in Edinburgh and the Lothians you want to work, and we open your compliance file. When the file is complete, you take your first shift as a registered nurse with us.

Filling the file

We will ask for your NMC PIN, which needs to be active, with revalidation in date. You need six months or more of recent UK nursing experience and the right to work in the UK. In Scotland the vetting is PVG scheme membership; if you are not a member, we can arrange it. We also check that your mandatory training is in date, including life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding, that you have occupational health clearance and immunisations appropriate to the setting, and that two referees can speak about your recent work.

Then the shifts

You pick the shifts and the settings: hospital wards, care and nursing homes, mental health units or community services. Adult nurses are in the most demand, and mental health and learning disability nurses are regularly asked for too. Bookings are matched to your postcode and travel time, so you are not sent across the region for a single shift. If you are based in Glasgow or Dundee and would travel, let us know.

On the ward or in the home

Your work is to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate the care each person needs, give medication in line with NMC standards, keep watch on clinical observations and act when they change, write accurate records and work with the clinical team around you.

Payment

£25 to £40 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly. Take ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements, whichever fits your life at the moment.
