Six months. That is the minimum amount of recent UK nursing experience we ask for before booking a registered nurse into agency shifts in Cardiff and South Wales. If you have that behind you, and your NMC registration is in order, you are most of the way there.
The rest of the list
Your NMC PIN needs to be active and your revalidation in date. You need the right to work in the UK, and an enhanced DBS on the update service; if you do not have one, we can arrange it. Your mandatory training should be in date, including life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding. We also need occupational health clearance and immunisations that fit the setting, plus two references from people who can speak about your recent employment.
Community services and more
Not every shift is on a ward. Alongside hospital wards we book into care and nursing homes, mental health units and community services, and you choose which ones you want. Adult nursing on the RGN register is the main need, with mental health and learning disability nurses requested regularly.
Your clinical responsibilities
You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate each person’s care, administer medication following NMC standards, act on clinical observations, keep accurate records and work with the wider team.
Travel across South Wales
Bookings are matched by postcode and travel time, so if you live in Barry, Newport, Pontypridd, Cwmbran or Bridgend we look at what is a sensible journey for you before offering anything. You can do ad hoc shifts, block bookings or longer placements, and you are paid £25 to £40 an hour depending on the shift and setting, every week.
