Where the shifts are
We fill nursing shifts in Cambridge and around the county on hospital wards, in care and nursing homes, in mental health units and with community services. Most requests are for adult nurses (RGN), and we regularly get asked for mental health and learning disability nurses as well. If you live out in Ely, Huntingdon or Newmarket, or over the county line in Bury St Edmunds or Stevenage, we look at your postcode and travel time and keep the offers sensible.
How you get paid
Between £25 and £40 an hour, depending on the shift and the setting. You are paid weekly for the hours you actually work. Choose ad hoc shifts, take a block booking or go for a longer placement; the decision is yours.
What goes in the file
Your NMC registration with an active PIN and revalidation in date. Evidence of at least six months of recent UK nursing experience and of your right to work in the UK. An enhanced DBS on the update service, or we will arrange a new check for you. Certificates for mandatory training covering life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding. Occupational health clearance and immunisations suited to the setting. Two references that cover your recent employment.
Once you are working
Shifts follow the pattern you would expect of a registered nurse. You assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care for each person, give medication in line with NMC standards, keep an eye on observations and act on them, write accurate notes and work with the rest of the clinical team. Flamingo Workforce supplies vetted staff across all four UK nations, but your consultant here will be looking at Cambridge and the villages and towns around it.
