Flamingo Workforce

If you nurse in Bradford, you will know that adult nursing is only part of the picture. Most of the agency shifts we fill here and across West Yorkshire are for RGNs, but we also get regular requests for mental health nurses and learning disability nurses, and we would like to hear from all three.

Where you would be working

The bookings come from hospital wards, care and nursing homes, mental health units and community services. Some nurses stay in Bradford itself. Others prefer to pick up work towards Leeds or Wakefield, or over the Pennines in Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside. We sort offers by your postcode and how far you are happy to travel, then you decide which ones to take.

Shifts, blocks and longer stays

You can work ad hoc, take a block booking on one unit or settle into a longer placement. Pay is £25 to £40 an hour depending on the shift and setting, and it is paid weekly for the hours you have worked.

The nursing itself

Assessment, care planning, giving the care and evaluating it are the centre of every shift. You give medication in line with NMC standards, watch observations and act on them, keep good records and work as part of the wider clinical team. On a learning disability or mental health booking the setting changes, but the professional standard stays the same.

What to have in place

You will need NMC registration with an active PIN and revalidation in date, at least six months of recent nursing experience in the UK and the right to work here. An enhanced DBS on the update service is ideal; if you do not have one, we can arrange it. We also ask for in date mandatory training (life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding), occupational health clearance with the right immunisations, and two references that cover your recent jobs.

Send your CV through the site. We call back within one working day, ask where you want to work and open your compliance file, and your first shift can go in as soon as that file is complete.
