One shift on a Saturday. A run of six weeks on the same ward. A permanent post once you have found a place you like. Registered nurses in Birmingham can pick any of those with us, and switch between them when life changes.
How the bookings work
Ad hoc shifts suit nurses who already have a main job or who need to work around childcare and study. Block bookings give you the same unit for a stretch, so you learn the staff, the patients and where everything is kept. If you then want to stay for good, permanent roles are part of what we do too. You tell us which mix you are after and we keep the offers inside it.
Pay
Rates run from £25 to £40 an hour depending on the booking, and you are paid weekly.
The settings around the city
Requests come in for hospital wards, theatres and scrub, ICU or ITU and emergency care, and from care and nursing homes, mental health units, district and community nursing and GP practice nurse work. Because offers are matched to your postcode and travel time, a nurse living in Walsall or West Bromwich is not sent to the far side of Solihull every week unless they ask to be. The same goes if you come in from Dudley or Wolverhampton.
What we check, and what we take off your hands
We ask for current NMC registration with an active PIN and revalidation that is up to date, the right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS (we can help you apply), in date mandatory training such as basic or immediate life support, moving and handling, infection control and safeguarding for adults and children, occupational health clearance with the right immunisations, and references that cover your recent work. Skills in IV therapy, venepuncture, paediatrics, mental health, theatre or critical care are welcome extras. After that, the DBS, right to work checks and file sit with us, and your consultant can help when revalidation comes round.
