Flamingo Workforce
Right now, experienced registrars are among the most sought after doctors anywhere in Northern Ireland. That leaves a middle grade living near Newry with real choice about where and how often to work. We help you use that choice well.
Governance counts too
Middle grade work is more than the take. Registrars we place contribute to governance, morbidity meetings and departmental safety, and that experience is worth having on your portfolio for appraisal. We help with appraisal and revalidation, and with mandatory training, so it all gets recorded.
Clinical side
On shift you are the most senior doctor below the consultant. Acutely unwell patients come to you for assessment and management. You run the take, look over the decisions of junior colleagues, supervise and teach them, and perform the procedures of your specialty within your competence. The middle grade on call bleep is yours, and resident on call is something you agree to in advance or not at all. When escalation or admission is on the table, you speak to the consultant.
Specialties, sites, contract lengths
Surgery, paediatrics, psychiatry, anaesthetics, obstetrics and gynaecology, emergency medicine, and general and acute medicine. Work is at major acute and district general hospitals in each of the five Trusts, and in urgent care, out of hours and private or community services. Book one shift, or a contract rolling past three months.
What you need
Have at least ST3 experience, or the middle grade equivalent, and no less than six months of recent NHS or HSC employment. Full GMC registration including a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, ALS (plus ATLS or APLS where relevant) and confidence leading out of hours are all expected. Rota, teaching or departmental leadership experience is desirable, as is a Royal College membership or exam progress. The Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health, immunisations and references are arranged by us.
Pay and the Newry area
£55 to £70 an hour, agreed before each booking, paid weekly. Armagh, Craigavon, Lisburn, Dungannon and Belfast are all within reach. Flamingo Workforce covers FY1 through to consultant. Apply through the site.
