Registrars on the north coast can take rolling contracts of three months and beyond through us, or stay with single shifts if flexibility matters more. Coleraine is the base, and Ballymena, Derry, Antrim, Dungannon and Omagh are all within the area we match against.
Longer contracts
A longer booking means you get to know one department, its consultants and its rota, and you are not chasing the next shift each week. If you would rather mix a contract with odd shifts elsewhere, we can talk about that too. Either way, the intensity is yours to set.
Where the work sits
Emergency medicine, general and acute medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthetics and psychiatry, across major acute hospitals and district general sites in all five Trusts. Urgent care, out of hours services and private and community settings come up as well.
Your role on shift
You are the senior decision maker beneath the consultant. That covers leading on acutely unwell patients, running the take, reviewing and teaching junior doctors, carrying the middle grade bleep, procedures within your competence and liaising with consultants on escalation and admission. Resident on call only applies where agreed. Governance, morbidity meetings and departmental safety form part of the work.
Experience and checks
ST3 or above, or equivalent middle grade experience; at least six months of recent NHS or HSC work; full GMC registration with a licence to practise; ALS, with ATLS or APLS where it matters; the right to work in the UK; and confidence supervising and leading out of hours. Royal College membership or exam progress helps. We arrange the Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health, immunisations and references, and we support appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training.
Pay, then applying
