Flamingo Workforce
The rate for registrar work booked through us in Belfast is £55 to £70 an hour, and you hear the figure for each booking before you agree to it. Pay goes out weekly. We would rather have the rate conversation early and plainly than surprise anyone later.
Three months, or longer
Single shifts are fine, but a lot of middle grade doctors prefer something steadier. We can book rolling contracts of three months and beyond, which gives you a settled rota, a team that knows you and time to plan the rest of your life. Shorter blocks and one off shifts remain available if that suits better.
Specialty and setting
We cover emergency medicine, general and acute medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthetics and psychiatry. Bookings span major acute and district general hospitals across the five Trusts, along with urgent care, out of hours, private and community work.
Being the senior on shift
Below consultant level, decisions rest with you. Acutely unwell patients, the take, the junior team’s plans and their teaching all come your way. You carry the middle grade on call bleep (resident on call only by agreement), do specialty procedures within your competence, talk to consultants about escalation and admissions and take part in governance, morbidity meetings and safety work.
Eligibility
ST3 level or higher, or equivalent middle grade experience, with six months or more of recent NHS or HSC work and full GMC registration with a licence to practise. ALS is required, plus ATLS or APLS for the relevant specialties, and you should be comfortable leading a team out of hours. You need the right to work in the UK. Membership or exam progress such as MRCP, MRCS, MRCEM, FRCA or MRCPsych, resus experience and Encompass familiarity all count. We arrange your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health, immunisations and references, and support appraisal, revalidation and training.
