Getting here
Swansea is the largest city in South West Wales. Doctors based in Neath, Llanelli or Bridgend are close by, and Carmarthen and Merthyr Tydfil are within a commute. The work is for ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors or anyone with equivalent experience, and demand is steady across general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry.
The clinical side
SHO level work on medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, with registrar and consultant support on every shift. You will take referrals and clerk admissions across the acute take, manage inpatients by starting investigations and treatment plans, carry out procedures within your competence and help foundation colleagues. On call nights and weekends are included, and your records should stand up to clinical and legal scrutiny.
Your side of the paperwork
We need full GMC registration with a licence to practise and the right to work in the UK. You should have six months or more of recent NHS hospital experience and experience at core training level or equivalent in a relevant specialty, plus ALS in date, or ILS with a willingness to update. If you do not have an enhanced DBS on the update service, we arrange one. Occupational health clearance, immunisations and two references are required, as is a current appraisal and revalidation, which we can support. Emergency medicine, acute medicine or psychiatry experience, progress with MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary, and ATLS or APLS give you an edge.
Pay and the next move
The rate is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, depending on grade, shift and site, and always agreed before you accept.
