Flamingo Workforce
Not every SHO wants the same thing from locum work. Some want variety, some want one unit they know inside out. For SHO grade doctors in Sheffield and across South Yorkshire, Flamingo Workforce lets you decide that, along with the sites, the shifts and the specialty.
Four specialties, five kinds of unit
Demand is steady in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry. In practice that means medical wards, surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units. Mix them up or stick to one. We supply doctors to NHS hospitals, urgent care and out of hours services and private providers, so we hear about plenty, but we only put forward what you have asked for.
A shift in outline
You take referrals and clerk patients on the acute take, review and manage the inpatients in your care, start investigations and treatment plans, and do practical procedures within your competence. Supporting the foundation doctors on shift is part of the job, as is your turn at nights and weekends on the on call rota. Senior help is never far off, with a registrar and consultant supporting every shift. Your notes have to satisfy clinical and legal scrutiny alike.
Credentials
We book ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors and those with equivalent experience. You will need full GMC registration with a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, six months or longer of recent NHS or HSC hospital work and experience at core level or equivalent in a relevant specialty. ALS should be in date, though ILS is accepted if you are willing to update. Then there is occupational health clearance, immunisations, two contactable references, an enhanced DBS on the update service and appraisal and revalidation kept current. We can arrange your DBS and help with revalidation, and the background checks and references are ours to chase.
Earnings and getting here
£45 to £55 an hour, depending on grade, shift and site, paid weekly and agreed before you accept. Work ad hoc, in blocks or on contracts of a month or more. Doctors on our Sheffield bookings often live in Chesterfield, Mansfield or Wakefield, and some come over from Stockport or Tameside.
Apply through the site with your CV and GMC number. Expect our call the same working day.
