Flamingo Workforce
Have your GMC number to hand, a current CV, and if possible an enhanced DBS that is already on the update service. With those three things you are most of the way to locum SHO work in Portsmouth and along the Hampshire coast with Flamingo Workforce.
Things to dig out before you apply
Your GMC registration needs to be full, with a licence to practise, and you need the right to work in the UK. We will ask about your hospital experience: at least six months of it recent and in the NHS or HSC, with core training level experience or equivalent in a relevant specialty. Find your ALS certificate (or ILS, if you are prepared to update), your immunisation records and the details of two referees we can contact. Appraisal and revalidation should be in date.
Things we sort out
No DBS on the update service? We arrange one. We also take care of occupational health clearance, reference checks and the rest of your compliance file, and we can support you with revalidation. Your part is mostly answering the phone.
What you would be doing
SHO level shifts for ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors or those with equivalent experience, in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry. That could be a medical or surgical ward, an assessment unit, an emergency department or a mental health unit. You would clerk and take referrals on the acute take, review and manage inpatients, begin investigations and treatment plans, do procedures within your competence and support foundation doctors, with registrar and consultant support on every shift. Expect nights and weekends on the on call rota, and records kept to a standard fit for clinical and legal scrutiny.
Rate and range
£45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, agreed before you accept and set by grade, shift and site. Book ad hoc, in blocks or on contracts of a month or more. Our Portsmouth doctors live everywhere from Gosport, Fareham and Havant to Chichester and Southampton.
Apply through the site and we call you on the same working day.
