Flamingo Workforce
Psychiatry is one of the four specialties where SHO demand never lets up, and for doctors in Omagh with mental health experience that is worth knowing. The work also runs through general medicine, emergency medicine and surgery, so mental health units sit alongside wards, assessment units and emergency departments on the list of places you might work.
Who can apply
SHO grade doctors, core trainees or equivalent. Omagh is in the Western Trust area, with Enniskillen and Dungannon nearby and Derry, Armagh and Craigavon within reach. We place by postcode and travel time, so you can keep the driving reasonable.
What you would be doing
Working with an appropriate degree of autonomy, you take referrals and clerk admissions from the acute take, manage inpatients by setting investigations and treatment plans in motion, and do practical procedures within your competence. Foundation colleagues look to you for supervision, and escalation decisions are made with registrars and consultants. Nights and weekends are on the on call rota, and notes have to bear clinical and legal scrutiny.
Credentials
You will need full GMC registration with a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, at least six months of recent hospital experience in the NHS or HSC, and core training level experience or equivalent in a relevant specialty. ALS, or ILS with a willingness to update, occupational health clearance, immunisations, references and an in date appraisal and revalidation complete the essentials. We arrange your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure. Psychiatry, emergency or acute medicine experience, Royal College exam progress, ATLS or APLS and familiarity with Encompass are desirable.
Pay and the agency
The pay on file is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly. Choose ad hoc shifts, block bookings or contracts of a month or more, and pick sites, shifts and specialties across the five Trusts. Flamingo Workforce confirms your background check before every booking and supports appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training. Apply through the site.
