Here is what happens after you press apply. You send your CV and GMC number through the site, and the same working day one of us at Flamingo Workforce picks up the phone to you. We ask when you are free, where in Greater Manchester you would happily travel, and which specialties you want. Then we get your compliance file moving.
That first phone call
It is a conversation, not a screening script. We want to know whether you are after ad hoc shifts, block bookings or a locum contract of a month or more, and whether you lean towards general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery or psychiatry, which is where demand is steady. If you live in Salford, Stockport or Trafford and would rather not cross the city, tell us. Tameside and Oldham doctors are just as welcome.
The file we build together
Background checks, occupational health and references are handled by us. You provide proof of full GMC registration with a licence to practise and of your right to work in the UK. We look for six months minimum of recent hospital work in the NHS or HSC, with core training level or equivalent experience in a relevant specialty. Advanced life support should be in date, or immediate life support if you are willing to update it. Your DBS should be enhanced and on the update service; if it is not, we will organise one. Appraisal and revalidation need to be current, and we can help there too. Immunisation records and two contactable references round it off.
Once you are booked
The grade is SHO: ST1, CT1 and CT2 or equivalent experience. Settings include medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, with registrar and consultant support every shift. You clerk and take referrals on the acute take, look after inpatients, start investigations and treatment, perform procedures you are competent in, support foundation doctors and cover your share of nights and weekends. Notes should be sound enough for clinical and legal scrutiny.
What it pays
£45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, agreed before you accept and dependent on grade, shift and site.
